Charles Dukes is the Sawaya Values Awards winner, for the value of Hope assigned to January
Charles has inspired and given hope to students across Colorado, and he just took his post as the director college readiness for the Denver Public Schools (DPS). He is seen as a driven and caring individual who places the needs of our students as priority.
Prior to working with Denver Public Schools, Charles was the Senior Consultant for High School Programs at the Colorado Department of Education where he assisted many school districts with their pursuit to helping students complete college and scholarship applications as well as high school graduation in general. It is rare to see someone who is so dedicated to the success of all students and embodies the true meaning of an educator for all students. Charles is an asset to those with whom he works.
“I have on several occasions recruited Charles to speak on behalf of the Alumni Association to groups of prospective students and high school teachers. He always has been a great representative for Mesa State College as an alumni and a student. When he was a student I had the pleasure on several occasions to witness first-hand demonstrations of his integrity and ability to lead. Many programs he established still thrive today. Wish I had more alumni like him.” – Rick Adleman
