Online resource represents law firm’s commitment to improving traffic safety

The Sawaya Law Firm is pleased to unveil an updated Interactive crash map to inform Colorado drivers of dangerous roads and highways. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to making Colorado safer for all road users.

The law firm, which represents individuals injured in car crashes and other motor vehicle accidents, has built the online resource using federal data about fatal accidents in Colorado covering the years 2010 through 2016.

The interactive map allows viewers to plot fatal crashes in the Centennial State attributed to various factors including alcohol, drugs, distracted driving, aggressive driving and failure to yield. By clicking on the boxes next to the different types of accidents, viewers can narrow or widen the mapped results.

Fatal accidents can be charted by year and viewed by the age of the drivers and type of contributing factor. For example, the data show that younger drivers ages 21 to 34 account for the largest portion of fatal accidents. Crashes are color coded by the type of contributing factor. The map uses data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), a federal database of accidents on public roads that resulted in traffic deaths.

The Sawaya Law Firm strongly supports the federal initiative of Moving Toward Zero traffic deaths in Colorado and throughout the nation. We still have much work to do to achieve that goal. The information available through the online resource should make drivers more aware of the danger zones in the state where fatal accidents occur most often and highway corridors to avoid.

The interactive crash map is just the latest effort by the Sawaya Law Firm to increase awareness of dangerous driving and focus on reducing preventable crashes and deaths.
