Sawaya Values Award Winner – Interview with General Elder Granger – HONOR 2011

Dr. Elder Granger is the May recipient of the Sawaya Values Awards of Honor. Granger was raised in West Memphis, AK and served in the US Army for over 35 years. Granger has been consistently involved in helping our next generations excel, in January of 2011 he opened his home to his niece to guide her concerning life in the military and to study for her AVSAV exam. Granger also helps other children in the community from chaperoning a 5th grade ski trip to assisting others get jobs and apply for college.

Granger serves on the Beck Pride Advisory Board at his alma mater, Arkansas State University, this organization deals with the education and rehabilitation of wounded warriors and their families. He also sits on the University of Colorado Medical Admission Boards and is a member of the Owls Club. Both of these organizations help promote community and education success.

It would take too many words to list the numerous awards that MG Granger received during his service to our country. However, a few include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with three oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters.
