Sawaya Values Award Winner – Interview with Bethany Boston Johnson – FREEDOM 2011
Bethany Boston receiving the July award of Freedom on behalf of her father. Col. Boston, US Air Force, was shot down in 1966 in Viet Nam while flying a search and rescue mission. He flew a A1E Sky Raider, pilots flew fully loaded slow and low, it was the most dangerous craft at the time without proper ejection equipment. The man who he went to rescue survived. His remains were just recently identified through DNA testing and returned from Vietnam. He was shot down in his first 6 weeks serving in Vietnam. At that time it took 6 weeks for the letters to arrive. When they did, we found out he wrote us several times a day. He was truly dedicated to his family and his country.
