Sawaya Values Award March RESPONSIBILITY Winner Bette Iacino
DENVER – When you first meet Bette Iacino you are struck by the quiet strength of a woman who has been advocating for others her whole life. Her soft spoken manner belies a ferocious talent for not only working with people but developing programs that make a huge impact in our state and nation. Bette Iacino, the recipient of the Sawaya Values Awards March Responsibility Award, is the Director of Education and Advocacy at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.
She focuses her time on state and federal legislative policies that affect homeless individuals, as well as communications and public education programs. Bette is also know nationwide for launching the first national breast cancer education program and directing the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Campaign for more than 10 years.
“Bette Iacino instills a sense of hope for people that are indigent, disabled, homeless or just down on their luck. Her friendly demeanor and positive personality inspires others to help in her efforts,” said Katie McClure in her nomination form.

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homes and at-risk families, children and individuals throughout Colorado.
