Woman Hit by Light Rail Train in Downtown Denver
A pedestrian was hit by an RTD light rail train while attempting to cross the tracks without using a crosswalk. The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Speer Boulevard and Stout Street. Denver Police were forced to shut down Speer in both directions for nearly two hours.
Witnesses say it appeared the woman attempted to beat the light rail train across the tracks while trying to cross Speer. She was taken to Denver Health Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
The woman was listed at fault in the accident, and Denver Police believe the incident may have been avoided if the woman had been more careful. RTD says they have been working to improve the light signals in the area to develop more safety.
