Tortillas for Clinica Tepeyac

Sawaya Law Firm supports Clinica Tepeyac!

Denver, CO – On April 28, 2017, Clinica Tepeyac, a clinic that provides healthcare and resources to the underserved, hosted their annual Tortillas for Tepeyac event at the National Western Complex. Nearly 500 guests from local, large, and corporate businesses and companies were in attendance to support and raise funds for the services patients so desperately need at Clinica Tepeyac!

If you have not been to this event before it is a fun one, that is for sure! The afternoon started off with mascots from Colorado University – Boulder (Chip), Colorado Rapids (Edson), Denver Broncos (Miles), and the Colorado Rockies (Dinger), competing to see who could make the best tortilla! Flour was everywhere and Edson almost burned his wing off but they survived and all completed the task. After a crowd evaluation, it was decided the winner was…MILES from the DENVER BRONCOS!

After a few wonderful Key Note speakers, it was time for the real competition to begin. Nearly 20 Denver Celebrities were invited to compete for the title of “Golden Roller” for their tasty tortillas! Our very own CEO, Michael Sawaya, who has previously won the “Golden Roller” title was invited back to compete, too! Contestants were judged on their creativity, timing, as well as the size, shape, and color of their finished tortilla’s by a panel of expert tortilla judges! While Michael didn’t walk away victorious, we know in our hearts the competition was rigged (just kidding) and that he is the King of Tortillas!

“What better way to help raise awareness and funds for such an important and impactful clinic in Denver” says Mr. Sawaya. “I make a mean tortilla and I’ll be back to regain my champion title next year!”
