The Sawaya Law Firm Rockies Home Run for the Homeless

Home Run for the Homeless

On Sunday, May 11, 2014 members of The Sawaya Law Firm participated in the 5k Rockies Home Run for the Homeless to support the Rockies homeless charities.

A portion of the charities proceeds directly benefit Denver’s Road Home which is an initiative to end homelessness. The organization works to ensure that every homeless child, woman and man has an alternative to living on the streets. Denver’s Road Home links families and individuals to shelter, long-term housing, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, job training and more.

According to Denver’s Road Home, 64 percent of the homeless in Metro Denver are people in families with children, 42 percent of homeless in Denver are women, and most of the homelessness is a result of loss of jobs and housing cost. They are currently in year 8 of their 10 year plan to end homelessness and have made great progress in the community.
