The Vibes of Deep Space
We catch the vibe with space scientist, Alan Stern, and learn about the sound of his busy life as a space science educator, his work with NASA, the sounds near his Colorado home, and the vibes of deep space.
INTRO – That sound you hear, is a plasma wave antennae, recording the complex interactions of charged electromagnetic particles from the planetary magnetosphere of Jupiter.
Although space is a vacuum, and therefore sound waves can’t be transmitted, these recordings from various Nasa give us an idea of what objects in our solar system might sound like.
Coming up on the podcast we listen to a few more cosmic sounds, and speak with Planetary Scientist Alan Stern about sound in space and on the ground right here in Colorado, that’s what’s next, and this, is the Colorado Vibe.
