Century 16 Theater Primer of the Dark Knight

Aurora, CO – Our hearts go out to the victims and families of those affected by the shooting at the primer of the Dark Knight movie at Century 16 Theater. A 24 year old gunman entered the showing during an action scene. He reportedly set off some sort of smoke bomb before opening fire into the crowd. Reported 14 people dead and at least 38 injured.

Many movie goers thought…

…the smoke might have been a special effect done by the movie theater for the last Batman movie in the trilogy. Once the gunman, dressed in all black wearing a bullet proof vest opened fire into the crowd chaos broke out.

The gunman has been identified as, 24 year old American, James Holmes. Holmes was taken into custody and questioned. During questioning he indicated there is a bomb placed at his apartment, which resulted in evacuating many businesses and his apartment complex early this morning. The police chief said the 3rd floor where Holmes lived is booby-trapped, and very sophisticated.

Holmes reportedly is from San Diego, CA, where his mother currently resides. Channel 7 reported his mother expressed concerned that her son was involved and said “You have the right person… I need to call the police…. I need to fly out to Colorado.”

People at the theater were taken to Gateway High School off of Mississippi and Sable Way for questioning. Gateway is now a scene of concerned family members reuniting with members who were at the theater.

People from Aurora have already started to organize a candlelight vigil tonight at Century 16 Theaters using social media outlets like Facebook. If you would like to show your support please check here for details, reported that concerned citizens plan to meet at 8pm, Friday, July 20, 2012.
