Erika Alverson was born and raised in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area.

Erika’s family has been in Denver for many years.  In fact, her grandfather, father, and uncle were all Denver Police officers.  Her father retired from the Denver Police Department 10 years ago, after an amazing 33 years of service.

Following graduation from Columbine High School in 1998, Erika attended the University of Denver where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2002.

In 2002, Erika entered law school at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California.  While in law school, Erika received Witkin Awards for Real Estate Transactions and Commercial Law and was honored on the National Dean's list for academic excellence in 2003, 2004, and 2005. 
 
After receiving her J.D. in law school, Erika passed the California bar exam and was hired at the firm of McCarthy & Holthus, LLP, where she clerked during law school.  While in San Diego however, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and Erika decided to move back to Colorado to spend more time with her family, recognizing that time with loved ones is limited and truly valuable.   When she moved back to Denver, Erika passed the Colorado bar exam and practiced with Dworkin, Chambers, Williams, York, Benson & Evans, P.C., in Denver, Colorado specializing in Workers’ Compensation and Insurance defense. 

While at the Sawaya Law Firm, Erika has worked on many  workers’ compensation cases and has enjoyed taking many cases to hearing.  Erika is currently an active member of the Professionals in Workers Compensation, the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives and the Colorado Bar Association.  She has been named a 2011 and 2012 Rising Young Star by 5280 magazine.

Erika is married and lives happily with her husband Jason.  Recently, she and her husband added a member to their family, a Boxer puppy named Charlie, who she and Jason enjoy raising.
